In a time long before Jamie's beard, we met when Eainne was handing out promo flyers at the college gates for a friend's gig. After a few more crossed paths and mutual friends, we became close friends for over a year before eventually dating.
College years were packed with fun parties. Including this Halloween party where silver face paint was found for weeks to come.
In 2013, Eainne went on an Erasmus to Utrecht in The Netherlands. It could have been a deal-breaker for most relationships but thankfully, flights were cheap and our relationship continued to grow from strength to strength
What later became a huge part of our lives, we went on our first roadtrip. Touring around France and Northern Italy In a tiny rental car, we stayed in quirky AirBnBs including a yacht docked in Cannes and a cabin with no electricity made entirely of straw in a small Italian village. (2014 also saw the introduction of Jamie's beard which is a whole relationship of its own.)
Once back to Ireland full-time, we settled in our first home together on The Strand, Athlone. During our time there, a very big personality in a tiny body found us while Jamie was walking home from a friend's wedding. It's been nearly 9 years now and Binkie is still as much the boss of the house.
After moving to Fry Court Athlone in 2014, we continued having a blast. From rocking out on the festival scene, skiing in Poland, Ireland rugby matches in Dublin to Eainne's numerous hairstyle changes.
2017 saw us prepare to move from Fry Court to Connolly Street,. A real fixer upper, the build involved many a family member rolling up their sleeves, gutting the tattered contents back to the four walls and rebuilding it to be our future home.
When 2018 rolled around, our wanderlust was too strong to ignore. So we left our jobs and set sail for South East Asia. First stop - Vietnam. We fell in love with the country and what was supposed to be one of many stops around SE Asia ended up with us living in Vietnam for two years! We spent nine months biking from South to North and the rest saw us settle outside Hanoi.
The call to home brought us back around Christmas 2020. We also had our heart set on settling to adopt own dog (after fostering a few at this point). When we met Cooper at the shelter, we were ready to take him home on the spot.
During COVID, Jamie kept busy by converting a van to a camper. Finally able to hit the road again, we went to Donegal for a week-long trip in good ol' Josie. After multiple attempts to sneakily pocket the ring during the trip, the opportunity arose in Narin, Donegal. The day was spent strolling to a viewpoint overlooking the beach then enjoying some trad music in the local that evening. Before calling it a night, we went to the beach for a moonlit walk when finally Jamie found the perfect moment.
